There are many ways to support The Story Works:
You can make a donation below or buy one of our amazing children’s books in our online store. All proceeds go directly back to supporting children in finding their voices and building confidence. Your generous support means that we can keep our workshops free of charge and enables all children, no matter their circumstances, to join us for a creative and uplifting experience.
Or, why not take a more hands-on approach? If you are looking for a fun way to connect with people from all walks of life and help children discover the joys and benefits of storytelling, then join us! Volunteering with The Story Works is open to everyone, no matter your age, background or previous experience. Reach out to us any time!

Volunteer with us!
The Story Works is powered by an incredible team of volunteers who bring energy, imagination and heart to everything we do. Whether you love writing, drawing, organising, encouraging children or simply being part of something joyful, there’s a place for you here.
Volunteering with us means meeting new people, building confidence, learning new skills and knowing you’re making a real difference in your community. We provide full training, an Enhanced DBS check, ongoing support and—most importantly—a fun, welcoming environment where your time and talents are truly valued.

What We Offer:
Training, support, new skills, new friends, references if needed, an up‑to‑date DBS certificate (funded by us) and the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping young people thrive.

Want to Collaborate?
The Story Works regularly partners with charities, community groups and cultural organisations to run workshops or host our colourful activity stand. We’ve collaborated with the Arts by the Sea Festival, Poole Museum, Upton House and many more — and we’re always excited to bring storytelling, imagination and a bit of magic to new spaces.

Every child deserves the chance to discover the power of their own imagination. At The Story Works, we bring creative writing to life for primary school children as well as older children and young adults, giving young people the confidence, language, and freedom to express themselves through stories. Your donation helps us to provide inspiring workshops delivered by trained volunteers, and ensure that every child — no matter their background — has access to joyful, empowering creative experiences.
